The Aleph One project maintains the open-source continuation of the Marathon 2 engine, which Bungie released as source in 2000. The team ships the engine and the complete Marathon, Marathon 2 and Marathon Infinity scenarios as free downloads with Bungie's blessing, adding modern resolutions, mouselook, OpenGL rendering and internet multiplayer to games first released in the mid-1990s.
