Gradius Remake

Gradius Remake is a loving, high-framerate modern PC recreation of Konami's landmark 1985 arcade shoot 'em up. As the pilot of the legendary hyperspace starfighter Vic Viper, players embark on a desperate solo campaign across deep space to destroy the invading bio-mechanical armada of the Bacterian Empire and save Planet Gradius from annihilation.

The game preserves the revolutionary horizontal power-up gauge that transformed the shoot 'em up genre forever. Slaying red enemy formations releases glowing orange power capsules; collecting each capsule advances an illuminated selection cursor across six upgrade tiers: Speed Up (stackable engine propulsion), Missile (ground-dropping diagonal bombs), Double (angled forward-and-upward cannons), Laser (piercing horizontal plasma beams), Option (glowing satellite drones that duplicate every shot fired), and ? (frontal directional shield barrier).

Level design tests pure situational awareness and twitch reflexes across classic and reimagined sectors. Navigate deadly cosmic asteroid fields, weave through impenetrable volcanic cavern mazes with churning magma columns, dodge laser-spewing Moai stone monoliths, and breach organic cellular fortresses guarded by pulsing tentacle monstrosities.

Every stage culminates in a legendary confrontation with the Bacterian mothership Big Core. Players must carefully weave between rotating blue laser volleys, shoot through protective energy shields, and destroy the glowing central core before the mothership charges across the screen.
