Question 1

Is Super Sidekicks free?

Accepted Answer

No. It is a paid DRM-free title on GOG. PlayBound does not redistribute the installer.

Question 2

Do I need GOG Galaxy?

Accepted Answer

Galaxy is the one-click Install path from PlayBound. You can also use GOG's offline installer; detection still looks under common GOG Games folders.

Question 3

How does online multiplayer work?

Accepted Answer

PlayBound Connect puts both players on a virtual LAN, then RetroArch netplay (FBNeo) syncs inputs. See /guides/retroarch-netplay.

Question 4

Does it support controllers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Neo Geo sports titles expect pads; PlayBound treats this as native gamepad support without rewriting config files.

Question 5

What is ssideki.zip?

Accepted Answer

That is the FBNeo ROM set name PlayBound looks for when launching Connect netplay. Your legal GOG install supplies the game data; we never host ROMs.

Question 6

Does Super Sidekicks have multiplayer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Super Sidekicks supports up to 2 players. You can host a game on your own PC. PlayBound Connect handles the setup: start a party with your friends, pick how you want to play, and everyone launches into the same game from the PlayBound launcher. There is no subscription and no paid multiplayer tier.
