Question 1

Is Thief Gold free?

Accepted Answer

No. Thief Gold is a paid commercial classic. PlayBound lists it as a low-cost master copy, and the GOG offline installer does not require Galaxy.

Question 2

What does Thief Gold add to The Dark Project?

Accepted Answer

It includes the original campaign, three additional missions, updated levels, and connective changes, making Gold the definitive release of Garrett's first adventure.

Question 3

Does Thief Gold support controllers?

Accepted Answer

Controller support is possible in the modern GOG package, but mouse and keyboard remain the clearest fit for precise arrows, leaning, and the original inventory interface.

Question 4

How do I play Thief Gold fan missions?

Accepted Answer

Use the NewDark-compatible GOG build with AngelLoader. Install AngelLoader outside Program Files, point it to THIEF.EXE and a mission folder, and leave downloaded archives zipped.
