RimWorld is a free simulation game released under Proprietary commercial game. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, needs about 1.0 GB of disk space, and requires no account, payment or trial. On a computer, the fastest route is the PlayBound Launcher. On a phone or tablet, use the official store or site instead.
One-click install
PlayBound fetches the official release — no third-party mirrors.
Get your own copy from Steam or the official RimWorld store, then install it with that store's client or installer. Install the base game before adding any separate multiplayer edition.
Windows
Return to PlayBound and use Locate if the launcher does not discover the installed executable automatically.
macOS
Install the macOS build for the copy you own. Return to PlayBound after installation; if PlayBound cannot locate it automatically, launch it through the store client.
Linux
Install the Linux build for the copy you own. Return to PlayBound after installation; if PlayBound cannot locate it automatically, launch it through the store client.
Minimum
Windows, macOS 10.12+, or Linux; Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD 4000 / Shader Model 4.0-class GPU. Store says 1 GB free, but its current Windows depot is about 1.07 GiB; DLC and mods need more.
