The Ur-Quan Masters HD

Ur-Quan Masters HD is a community remaster of the same open-source engine: every sprite, planet and alien redrawn at four times the original resolution, with the 3DO voice acting and music bundled into the installer rather than downloaded separately. The game underneath is identical — same story, same ships, same Super Melee — so saves and expectations carry over. The trade-off is maintenance: the HD project's last binary is Beta 1 from 2013 and it is effectively dormant, where the standard 0.8 client is still looked after. Take HD for how it looks, the base edition for how current it is.
