Pushes the Iliac Bay horizon out with low-poly far terrain and sky blending.
0 playing nowExtends far-clip terrain, adds optional geometry/texture transition into the near mesh, marks distant settlements as brighter spots, and can pick up sea reflections when Realtime Reflections is present. Compatible with Splat Terrain Texturing. World of Daggerfall players should use the separate 'Distant Terrain of the World of Daggerfall' patch instead of this file.
Distant Terrain is a community add-on for The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. Distant Terrain is Nystul-the-Magician's view-distance mod for Daggerfall Unity. Vanilla DFU drops world geometry a short way from the player; this pack keeps generating low-poly terrain out to the horizon and, with Enhanced Sky, blends that mesh into the sky so the coastline does not pop. It ships its own terrain sampler that tries to respect the original height map rather than inventing a new continent. Download the .dfmod from Nexus Mods (login required) and place it in Daggerfall Unity's StreamingAssets/Mods folder, then enable it in the in-game mod list. Pair with Enhanced Sky. Do not confuse this with World of Daggerfall's terrain pack. Mods are versioned separately from the base game — match the recommended engine or client release before joining multiplayer, and keep a clean backup of your settings if you experiment with several packs at once. PlayBound only lists projects that publish redistributable archives or clear external download pages. Always read the upstream README for credits, required assets, and known incompatibilities.

This package isn't one-click yet. Open the official download page in your browser, then place files in the game's mods folder.
Install The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall first if you have not already — Distant Terrain is an add-on and needs the base game.
The quickest route is the PlayBound Launcher: open The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, find Distant Terrain in its mods list and press Install. The launcher downloads the official release and places it in the right folder for you.
Distant Terrain is distributed through https://www.nexusmods.com/daggerfallunity/mods/128. Follow the instructions there — some add-ons install through the base game's own content browser rather than as a file.
Start The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and enable Distant Terrain from the in-game mods or add-ons menu. The download is roughly 15 MB.
No. Use the separate Distant Terrain of the World of Daggerfall patch. This row is Nystul's vanilla-map Distant Terrain.
