About Deus Ex: HX Co-op — PlayBound Edition

A patrol is easier to outsmart when one agent watches the cameras and another slips through the back door. HX brings friends into Deus Ex's campaign together; PlayBound sets up the same mod build on each PC. Host on your own computer through PlayBound Connect or choose a PlayBound server, which runs the dedicated HX host on our VPS. This edition copies your legal GOG or Steam GOTY installation into its own folder, applies Hanfling's original HX archive, and launches HX.exe. Your untouched master copy stays where it is. HX is still an alpha: normal campaign saves are unavailable, and GMDX is not compatible.

System requirements

Minimum Requirements

Any current Windows 10/11 PC — this is a 2000-era game; original specs are obsolete and GOG's build runs on essentially anything.

Recommended Requirements

Same as minimum — Deus Ex has no modern hardware demands. A gamepad or HOTAS is not needed; mouse and keyboard is the intended input.

PlayBound Certification

Listed but not yet verified by anyone. Install at your own discretion.

The upstream HX archive and file layout were checked. The VPS dedicated server passed an isolated spawn and UDP-bind test; end-to-end client joining still needs a two-PC test.

Does this edition include Deus Ex?

No. It needs a legal Deus Ex GOTY installation from GOG or Steam on each PC.

Does PlayBound host the game?

Yes. Choose PlayBound server for a dedicated HX room on our VPS, or My computer for a dedicated or listen server on the party leader's PC. Every player still needs their own Deus Ex GOTY copy and HX edition.

Can I combine it with GMDX?

No. HX and GMDX are separate editions.
