That One Thing
Two thousand units can cross Arrakis, and the interface still lets you command the battle instead of wrestling 1992.
DuneCity is the bold branch of Dune Legacy: the bones of Dune II fused with a Micropolis-style city simulation. Instead of dropping a refinery and rushing tanks, you zone residential, commercial, and industrial districts; lay roads and power lines; fund civic services; and keep a spice economy alive long enough to survive the war outside town.
It earns edition status because it changes the purpose of the whole game, not merely a few units. City planning, public services, taxation, and RTS combat all compete for the same attention. The result is stranger and more ambitious than a balance mod—and exactly the kind of playable alternate history PlayBound editions are built to preserve.
The current official Windows package is distributed as a portable ZIP. PlayBound can fetch that release directly, keep it separate from classic Dune Legacy, and launch it without Steam or a third-party storefront.
