Genshin Impact is HoYoverse's monumental open-world action role-playing game. Set in the expansive, breathtaking fantasy continent of Teyvat, players awaken as the Traveler—an interdimensional voyager separated from their twin by an unknown god. Guided by the cheerful fairy companion Paimon, your quest leads you across seven distinct elemental nations (Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya), each ruled by an Archon god and steeped in rich regional lore and distinct musical scores.

Combat centers on a fluid, action-packed elemental reaction system. Characters wield one of seven elements: Pyro (Fire), Hydro (Water), Cryo (Ice), Electro (Lightning), Anemo (Wind), Geo (Earth), and Dendro (Nature). By swapping seamlessly between four characters in active combat, players trigger high-impact elemental chain reactions—such as Vaporize and Melt for catastrophic damage multipliers, Swirl for elemental spreading, Frozen for crowd control, and Bloom/Hyperbloom for automated homing dendro cores.

Teyvat offers one of the most rewarding open worlds in gaming. Players can scale any cliffside, glide across mountain ranges, dive underwater in Fontaine, navigate lava rivers in Natlan, and uncover thousands of environmental puzzles, hidden chests, Seelie guides, and time-trial challenges. Rewarding exploration directly fuels character progression with Primogems, artifact upgrades, and talent materials.

The game delivers hundreds of hours of fully voiced main Archon Quests, character Story Quests, and intricate world exploration questlines rivaling full-priced single-player RPGs. A deep progression loop includes the Spiral Abyss endgame dungeon, Imaginarium Theater, artifact domain farming, and periodic major seasonal festival events.

While featuring a gacha character wish system, all story content, exploration, world quests, and events can be cleared entirely with the free guaranteed starter cast (Traveler, Amber, Kaeya, Lisa, Xiangling, Barbara, Lynette, and Collei). Genshin Impact supports seamless cross-save and cross-play across PC, PlayStation, iOS, and Android.
