Question 1

Is Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest free?

Accepted Answer

No. It's a paid commercial classic, currently $9.99 on GOG as a DRM-free offline installer. PlayBound lists it as a master copy, not a free game.

Question 2

What's included in the War Chest?

Accepted Answer

The base Allied Assault campaign plus both expansion packs, Spearhead and Breakthrough — three full single-player campaigns across the European and North African theaters.

Question 3

Does multiplayer still work?

Accepted Answer

Not through the game's own server browser — GameSpy shut down in 2013. The community runs a replacement master server (xNULL) that active dedicated servers register with, and direct IP connects always work if you have an address.

Question 4

Does it support a controller or gamepad?

Accepted Answer

No. The retail release has no native controller support; it was built for mouse and keyboard and plays best that way.

Question 5

What's the difference between the retail version and the OpenMoHAA edition?

Accepted Answer

The retail GOG build is the original 2002 engine, unmodified. OpenMoHAA is a separate open-source re-implementation that uses your retail game files but adds native widescreen, 64-bit performance, and cross-platform support on Linux and macOS. Install it as this game's edition.
