The Legend of Zelda XD2: Mercuris' Chess is a free rpg game released under Free · Fan Game (Non-Commercial). It runs on Windows, needs about 40 MB of disk space, and requires no account, payment or trial. On a computer, the fastest route is the PlayBound Launcher. On a phone or tablet, use the official store or site instead.

PlayBound fetches the official release — no third-party mirrors.
Install the PlayBound Launcher, then find The Legend of Zelda XD2: Mercuris' Chess and press Install. The launcher downloads the official release, unpacks it and creates a shortcut. This is the fastest route and it never uses third-party mirrors.
This is a fan project, not a stock Solarus download: the official site only offers the raw quest file for the separately-installed Solarus Launcher. PlayBound instead packages the quest with the Solarus engine runtime into one standalone .exe, following the engine's own official distribution documentation — that's what the PlayBound Launcher installs.

Run the downloaded installer and follow the prompts. If Windows SmartScreen warns about an unrecognised publisher, that is normal for open-source projects without a paid code-signing certificate — choose More info, then Run anyway.
Launch the game and look at the settings menu before your first session — resolution and control defaults are worth checking. The Legend of Zelda XD2: Mercuris' Chess needs roughly 40 MB of free disk space.
