Question 1

Is X-Men Arcade Remake official?

Accepted Answer

No. It is a free OpenBOR fangame by ZVitor. Marvel and Konami did not publish it.

Is it free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Game Jolt release is free. PlayBound's one-click path uses a hosted Windows package of that freeware build.

Question 3

Does it have online multiplayer?

Accepted Answer

Not natively. Multiplayer is local 4P co-op. Remote friends use PlayBound Couch / phone-as-controller on the host machine.

Question 4

Does it support controllers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. OpenBOR binds pads natively for up to four local players. PlayBound does not rewrite a config file.

Question 5

What engine does it use?

Accepted Answer

OpenBOR (Open Beats of Rage), a common engine for freeware beat 'em up remakes.

Question 6

Does X-Men Arcade Remake have multiplayer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. X-Men Arcade Remake has multiplayer. You can play together on one PC with phones or extra gamepads as controllers. PlayBound Connect handles the setup: start a party with your friends, pick how you want to play, and everyone launches into the same game from the PlayBound launcher. It also supports co-op play. There is no subscription and no paid multiplayer tier.
