About OpenGFX

OpenGFX provides freely licensed base graphics so OpenTTD runs without original Transport Tycoon assets. One-click installs the latest GitHub release into your OpenTTD baseset folder.

Install with the PlayBound Launcher

The launcher installs this into baseset/ for OpenTTD. If the base game is missing, it will install that first.

How to install OpenGFX

  1. 1

Install OpenTTD first if you have not already — OpenGFX is an add-on and needs the base game.

  2. 2

The quickest route is the PlayBound Launcher: open OpenTTD, find OpenGFX in its mods list and press Install. The launcher downloads the official release and places it in the right folder for you.

  3. 3

To install it by hand, download the latest release archive from github.com/OpenTTD/OpenGFX/releases.

  4. 4

Extract the archive into the "baseset" folder inside your OpenTTD installation directory.

  5. 5

Start OpenTTD and enable OpenGFX from the in-game mods or add-ons menu. The download is roughly 10 MB.
