A complete multiplayer FPS small enough to respect almost any PC.
That One Thing
It delivers a real arena night in a download smaller than many game patches.
AssaultCube earns a PlayBound testing slot by offering brisk, readable multiplayer on hardware that newer shooters leave behind.
Worth the cost
Free, or regularly available for $15 or less. Good developers deserve to be paid, and optional cosmetics, expansions, and premium extras are welcome. But we won't list games that sell competitive advantages, disguise a trial as free, or charge again to finish the core experience.
Ready to play
Playable and satisfying today. It can be unfinished; it cannot be unfun. We love supporting indie developers, but prototypes, broken releases, and promises of a future game do not make the cut.
Tested by PlayBound
We install it, launch it, and play it ourselves. We've spent hours building definitive editions and making multiplayer work, because a store-page claim is not the same as a game we can confidently put in front of you.
That One Thing
Every game needs that one thing we'd excitedly tell our friends about. It might be the mechanics, story, art, soundtrack, controls, community, or the way it brings people together. If it doesn't have one, it doesn't make the catalog.

AssaultCube is a compact multiplayer shooter designed for speed, clarity and low hardware demands. Its maps are small, its weapons are immediately legible, and rounds move quickly enough that a new player is never far from another chance. It feels closer to the era of LAN cafés than to a modern live-service lobby, and that is precisely the appeal.
The tiny footprint does not mean a toy experience. You get familiar team and free-for-all modes, bots for practice, community servers and enough map variety to support a full evening. Recoil and movement reward practice, but the basic language of the game is easy to read: hold useful angles, move with teammates, and learn when a compact level is about to funnel everyone into the same fight.
AssaultCube’s visuals and interface are plainly old-school, and players expecting cosmetics, elaborate progression or polished matchmaking should look elsewhere. It is also best enjoyed with a group or a server you trust. In return, it runs on machines that struggle with contemporary shooters, installs quickly, and works beautifully as a LAN option. Start against bots to set controls, then open a private match and rotate modes. AssaultCube makes a strong case that a multiplayer FPS can be small, complete and worth keeping installed.
We picked AssaultCube because accessibility includes old laptops, limited storage and imperfect internet. Its compact maps, bots, LAN support and low requirements make it a dependable fallback that still has real competitive bite.
