Question 1

Do I need Doom II?

Accepted Answer

Not for the standalone. That pack uses Freedoom. The PK3-only files need GZDoom plus Freedoom Phase 2 or a legal Doom II IWAD.

Question 2

Is Afterglow included?

Accepted Answer

Yes, in the 1.51 standalone, along with Hard Reset. Afterglow is a separate episode with its own launch option; it does not continue a 2063 save.

Question 3

Do I still go to ModDB?

Accepted Answer

Not for this edition. PlayBound installs the mirrored standalone zip. ModDB remains the project page for news and PK3-only files.
