Tiny cars, enormous tracks, and twenty-six years of community racing in one ready-to-run package.
That One Thing
The whole house becomes a racetrack
Re-Volt (RVGL) clears the PlayBound Bar: toy-car physics, inventive household tracks, and a community still racing after more than twenty-five years.
Worth the cost
Free, or regularly available for $15 or less. Good developers deserve to be paid, and optional cosmetics, expansions, and premium extras are welcome. But we won't list games that sell competitive advantages, disguise a trial as free, or charge again to finish the core experience.
Ready to play
Playable and satisfying today. It can be unfinished; it cannot be unfun. We love supporting indie developers, but prototypes, broken releases, and promises of a future game do not make the cut.
Tested by PlayBound
We install it, launch it, and play it ourselves. We've spent hours building definitive editions and making multiplayer work, because a store-page claim is not the same as a game we can confidently put in front of you.
That One Thing
Every game needs that one thing we'd excitedly tell our friends about. It might be the mechanics, story, art, soundtrack, controls, community, or the way it brings people together. If it doesn't have one, it doesn't make the catalog.

Re-Volt starts with an irresistible scale trick: ordinary places become enormous when your car is small enough to fit beneath a couch. Supermarket aisles turn into high-speed straights, museum exhibits become hazards, and a quiet neighborhood becomes a maze of curbs, sprinklers, and shortcuts.
RVGL is the modern community engine that keeps those ideas comfortable on current PCs. It preserves Re-Volt’s springy, physical handling while adding widescreen support, modern graphics paths, broad controller mapping, platform portability, and years of online fixes.
Cars differ in weight, acceleration, grip, and stability. Pickups can overturn a clean race in seconds, but good lines and smart recovery still separate practiced drivers from optimistic newcomers. Time trial, stunt, battle-tag, single races, LAN, and internet lobbies give the package enough shapes for both quick parties and serious event nights.
PlayBound uses the official Re-Volt I/O 64-bit Online Edition. It includes RVGL, the required game content, a community soundtrack, and the shared cars and tracks used by regular events. It is a direct download with no Steam account or storefront handoff.
Online sessions are player-hosted through IP lobbies. Joining needs only the host address; hosting normally needs a forwarded port, which makes this a natural fit for PlayBound Connect and self-hosted parties. There is no separate dedicated-server binary, so one racer hosts and everyone else joins.
Thousands of fan-made cars and tracks remain available, and the I/O maintainers curate compatible packs for community races. PlayBound starts with that compatible online set so a party spends its first night racing instead of reconciling folders.
This is the definitive way to discover Re-Volt today: fast to install, friendly to controllers, excellent in a group, and still gloriously capable of launching a toy car off a countertop.
We picked RVGL because it turns an awkward classic-PC setup into a genuinely inviting party racer. The official online package is direct, current, controller-friendly, and aligned with active community events. Its IP-hosted lobbies fit PlayBound Connect, its LAN mode fits local groups, and its huge custom-content history gives the game room to grow.
