Mrboom

Mr. Boom is an open-source 8-player Bomberman clone originally created in 1999 and modernized for modern platforms. Players drop timed explosives, blast soft blocks, collect game-changing powerups, and attempt to trap and eliminate opponents in fast, frantic grid-based arenas.

Gameplay follows the timeless Bomberman arcade formula: shatter destructible maze blocks to uncover critical upgrades including Extra Bombs (laying multiple explosives at once), Bigger Flames (expanding linear blast radius), Speed Skates (increasing movement speed), and Bomb Kicking/Punching gloves to launch live explosives across the arena into enemy paths.

Chaotic dynamic mechanics keep every round unpredictable. Ride animal mounts like hopping kangaroos that leap over obstacles, trigger remote-detonation explosives, and dodge sudden illness skull curses that reverse controls or cause frantic involuntary bomb drops. When the countdown timer reaches sudden death, falling perimeter blocks crush the grid, forcing survivors into tight, frantic center-stage duels.

The game is built from the ground up for instantaneous local couch multiplayer, supporting up to eight simultaneous players on a single PC or Steam Deck with full plug-and-play USB and Bluetooth controller recognition. Intelligent AI bots with adjustable difficulty settings fill empty slots for solo training or co-op skirmishes.

With both lightweight standalone portable releases and Steam integration, zero loading screens, battery-friendly performance, and tracker chiptune music, Mr. Boom delivers timeless party action with zero paywalls or microtransactions.
