Move like a space ninja. Build like a mad scientist.
That One Thing
Bullet jumping turns every corridor into a playground, long before the arsenal turns your frame into a screen-clearing machine.
Warframe is the kind of game we love finding: absurdly deep, constantly evolving, and somehow still free. It rewards curiosity, lets you get lost in its systems, and gives you an embarrassing number of reasons to keep coming back.
Worth the cost
Free, or regularly available for $15 or less. Good developers deserve to be paid, and optional cosmetics, expansions, and premium extras are welcome. But we won't list games that sell competitive advantages, disguise a trial as free, or charge again to finish the core experience.
Ready to play
Playable and satisfying today. It can be unfinished; it cannot be unfun. We love supporting indie developers, but prototypes, broken releases, and promises of a future game do not make the cut.
Tested by PlayBound
We install it, launch it, and play it ourselves. We've spent hours building definitive editions and making multiplayer work, because a store-page claim is not the same as a game we can confidently put in front of you.
That One Thing
Every game needs that one thing we'd excitedly tell our friends about. It might be the mechanics, story, art, soundtrack, controls, community, or the way it brings people together. If it doesn't have one, it doesn't make the catalog.

Warframe is Digital Extremes’ long-running free-to-play looter shooter: space ninja frames, parkour, guns that turn into melee, and a solar map that has been added to for more than a decade. You can play the whole way as a solo player — the game even has an official Solo matchmaking setting — or run squads of four through the same nodes.
It is generous for a live-service shooter and it is still a live-service shooter. Platinum buys cosmetics and convenience. Founders and deluxe skins exist. The foundry, mods, and Prime vaults are a second game about logistics. None of that makes the shooting bad. It does mean PlayBound will not stamp genuinelyFree on it.
The Windows client is a substantial download. Official installers come from Warframe.com (MSI) or Steam. PlayBound will not send you to a random ‘free Warframe’ zip. New players should expect a busy UI and a wiki tab. The payoff is one of the few F2P action games that still feels like a crafted co-op shooter rather than a battle-pass template.
We picked Warframe because it’s one of those games that gets better the deeper you go. What starts as stylish space-ninja combat quickly opens into an enormous universe of missions, customization, progression, and strange little systems to obsess over. We love that it doesn’t feel like a typical free-to-play game. You can genuinely sink hundreds of hours into it without spending anything. More importantly, Warframe has the kind of personality we look for at PlayBound: ambitious, weird, generous, and constantly evolving. It’s a game we can recommend knowing there’s a good chance players will discover something they didn’t expect.

It is free to download and play. Platinum and a large cosmetic/convenience shop exist. You can progress without paying; you will see the shop.
Yes. Digital Extremes ships an official Solo matchmaking option. Some content is easier in a squad, but the game is not raid-gated at the start.
Plan on tens of gigabytes. The launcher download is much larger than a typical open-source catalog title.
Either official path is fine. Steam is simpler if you already live there. The standalone MSI from warframe.com is the other supported client.
No. It is a commercial live-service title listed so free-to-play PC games have accurate pages, not because it matches the FOSS quality bar.
