Grappling hooks, tiny arenas, and sixteen players worth of trouble.
That One Thing
The grappling hook makes every tiny map feel three-dimensional.
Teeworlds earns a PlayBound testing slot with instant readability, expressive movement, and party-sized matches that run almost anywhere.
Worth the cost
Free, or regularly available for $15 or less. Good developers deserve to be paid, and optional cosmetics, expansions, and premium extras are welcome. But we won't list games that sell competitive advantages, disguise a trial as free, or charge again to finish the core experience.
Ready to play
Playable and satisfying today. It can be unfinished; it cannot be unfun. We love supporting indie developers, but prototypes, broken releases, and promises of a future game do not make the cut.
Tested by PlayBound
We install it, launch it, and play it ourselves. We've spent hours building definitive editions and making multiplayer work, because a store-page claim is not the same as a game we can confidently put in front of you.
That One Thing
Every game needs that one thing we'd excitedly tell our friends about. It might be the mechanics, story, art, soundtrack, controls, community, or the way it brings people together. If it doesn't have one, it doesn't make the catalog.

Teeworlds is a fast 2D multiplayer shooter built around one excellent idea: give every player a grappling hook and make the maps compact enough that movement always matters. The controls are readable within minutes, but chaining jumps, swings and weapon timing creates room for real mastery.
Up to sixteen players can meet in familiar deathmatch and team modes, and community servers extend the game with maps and rule variations. The small characters and colorful presentation make an inviting first impression, yet the best rounds become wonderfully technical. A player who understands the hook can change direction in midair, escape a bad fight, or arrive from an angle the rest of the room forgot existed.
There is no campaign, progression track or modern matchmaking layer. Public server quality varies, and newcomers may occasionally meet veterans whose movement seems impossible. Teeworlds works best when friends join the same room, learn the hook together, and rotate through modes without taking the scoreboard too seriously. It is free, open-source, extremely lightweight and available across desktop platforms. Keep it installed for nights when the group wants action immediately: no long tutorial, no giant update, just a clean arena and one movement tool that keeps revealing new possibilities.
We picked Teeworlds because it reaches the fun before the setup can become a problem. The hook creates a real skill ceiling, while the tiny download and clear modes make it unusually easy to share.
